start button bmp image bug

Hey guys.
This must be fucking easy for some of you, but i can't fix it :



In fact:
I make my image in Photoshop, cause i dislike Gimp.
I save it, on an empty background, in a psd file.
Then i edit this psd with Gimp. I create a channel (black should make transparency), and save it to bmp.

As you can see, for the hover image, i made a glow effect around my image. The bottom image shows what i got by saving to bmp...

I'm pretty sure this results of a bad channel property, or something like this.

It might have to do with bit depth, I don't think 8bit bmp's include alpha, I think they need to be saved as 32bit bmp's...

Save it as PNG, open the PNG in GIMP then save it as BMP in GIMP. GIMP doesn't fully support PSD files.

wouldnt want to asy that but my experience shows that every start button doesnt work.

Here is what I came up with:

Done in Photoshop CS4...

Steps on how to do it:

1: create your images and lay them out normally
2: merge layers
3: Select menu> load selection
4: open channels panel> create new channel> fill with white> deselect
5: layers panel > create new layer and put below your image and fill entire layer with black
6: merge layers and save as bmp 32bit

As you can see, some black pixels shouldn't appear in the center of the two bottom squares. Any idea ?

i don't know if it's fixed in 7, but under vista exists a "transparent start button bug".
when you take a transparent button, a smaller copy is drawn under the orignal button, which destroys the appearance..

That's still true of 7.
