crash when i mod any image of the theme

i am in win 7 now
i dont know why , any theme for win7 i download works well
but when i mod any image of the themes, and applied, they wil crash or just show basic model
i tried paint.net and ps cs4 to edit images, i found the png saved by ps is larger than which done by paint.net
so i treid all kinds of png files, 8 bit, 24, 32, ...
i edit images save them on desktop, and then import.
but never success, crash and crash again, what wrong?
anyone can help me?
is there any skills to mod the images?

Ps: i am not a freshman on mod themes. i have creat a lot of wb themes

i thought VSB is not as usable as Skinstudio.
but now i find cant do anything with VSB, because i cant edit images
so what do i buy this for, 
unless someone can solute my problem

Sounds like what happens when you try to test a Vista theme.
Does this happen with all Win7 themes you try to edit?

yes, i have some of expereince on hack system resource, so i think i do right  on replacing and saving the themes
so what i can guess is there are something wrong on the image which edited by me
i apply the theme i mod,  sometimes, it wont crash but can't areo, the pushbutton i mod is showing ok, and this is the only place i mod, frame i never mod it

sorry, it crash when change other data too,  seems it not the images problem
i change the content margins, and it crash too, i guess it's saving problem

update: even crash when i just save it,  i change nothing, just save it
