The font color of highlighted/selected values in Win10 TH2-regedit has changed to black Sad
And/or the background has changed to default Explorer.

I have lightened the backgrounds a bit in
Explorer & Shell > Explorer > ListView > ListItem

but that's no good solution cause in a dark theme they are also used by many other lists with white font color.
Hoping Mr. Grim would have solved it I tried his "Windows Black Edition" but same result, highlighted regedit values barely readable.

Any idea?

You can't change that black textcolor

Too sad...
Since Mr Grim gave us some colored taskmgr.exe's in his extras I'm still dreaming of a new regedit.exe?

Though the Registry Editor is something really existential I can't believe that all dark-theme users from now on will see darkness using regedit?

I don't think messing with regedit is a good idea. But I could be wrong.....

..tried the 10240-regedit in 10586 already, does not even start.

There are some freeware regedit alternatives, just trying O&O RegEditor - seems to be ok on dark themes.

You're so right, no I missed changing the regedit.exe.mui file.
I anyway had not the best feeling doing it I thought like changing the 3 dll is enough for a time...

I realize this thread is old but this is still relevant in RS2
If you have a textcolor at Lists,Menus &Tabs>Listview>Listitem>Selected
Remove it
Then the select text color in regedit(and many other programs, like Winrar and 7zip)
will be themeable from Fonts & System Metrics>highlighttext

Did not work here. Do you have a RS2 Theme without that issue?

I think the regedit black font color if selected must be a default color of Windows: Just to find that out my theme is completely without black (no #000000 to be found in color search).
So always if I find a 000 picking colors of a screenshot I know that this black is not coming out of my (findable) theme colors.

I wish somebody or Mr. Grim could find something to change it in shellstyle.dll?
Just checked in his RS2 Black Edition - still no solution, too sad Wink

p.s. next try

In my theme Lists,Menus &Tabs>Listview>Listitem is entirely empty, no enty at all.

May be your other entrys there make it work?

It works for me

I just remembered I don't use any solid black fill colors,I use 0,0,1 instead of 0,0,0
I have used this for a long time, even in Windows 7 themes because 0,0,0 caused some conflicts on certain things.
maybe that will help.

In this theme it should be working, that's what the screenshot is from http://gsw953onda.deviantart.com/art/Obsidian-for-Windows-10-Creators-Update-683352816

Ah seems to be back to highlighttext since 1703? I did not upgrade yet cause of many reported issues in my preferred video apps.

gsw953's Obsidian in 1607 still shows this, regard the select-line is not only on the name but goes straight through all:
