Question: Should the control preview window be shown manually or on test?
I'm generally looking at other parts when testing; I think the control preview window should be shown only when I tell it to. - 12 (92.3%)
The control preview window should work as it currently does by showing up when I click test. - 1 (7.7%)

yeah i would have to agree it is a pain in the butt to close that out every time you test but like dave said a key shortcut would be fantastic when you actually want to look at the control preview

Why not make it an option instead? Check it on some menu, it always shows on test, uncheck, it shows when you want
