Help / Windows 7 / System Files
|
on: January 22, 2013, 03:19:27 pm

Does anyone knows which modified system files works in both 32bit and 64bit and which one needs a redo? These are my files that have been modified in 32bit: - Explorer.exe - ExplorerFrame.dll - imageres.dll - shell32.dll - shellstyle.dll - winSATAPI.dll
I also forget about what have been modified in each file, if someone has a record of it than it will be a great help ...
Thanks

You might have that mixed up, at least in my case with transparency is much better than solid color.
The first two images use a red solid color and the last two use transparency ...
Thanks guys ...

Yes Dave, I've got that bitmap 221 & 222 ... Tried to replicate your image and save it with alpha channel, only shows a white background with black outline and the index number looks very ugly ...
Managed to disable Experience index thru regedit.

Help / Windows 7 / Windows System Rating

3am, in this thread: http://vistastylebuilder.com/forum/index.php?topic=1180.0I notice that your rating only show: "System Rating is not available" How do you disable the System Rating? I hate that system rating index number, as it appears that it is a windows generated raster image and looks very jiggy if we replaced the panel color to a dark color. I also noticed Dave Senior has managed to overcome the problem ... Perhaps Dave should also give a walk thru as to how he did it ..

Help / Windows 7 / Re: Control Panel Caption Title

Since I had the problem, the only change I did are in comctl32.dll and revert back shellstyle to its original file as suggested. But now even I replaced all instances of foreground="windowtext" with foreground="argb(0, 0, 0, 0)", I can not recreate the problem.
So I did some manipulation in photoshop to illustrate the problem ... The problem persisted even after restart or complete shutdown. Every time Control Panel is launched it opened as illustrated, even command module is not showing .. so I was unable to try to set the layout of the window (untick navigation pane)

OK Thanks .. for time being I'll leave that as it is ..
EDIT:
Editing foreground="windowtext" to argb works as expected ... thanks again ...
EDIT:
Doing this cause a disturbing effect: Control Panel Home and some other Control Panel items open up in explorer with Navigation Pane ..

I've manage to get rid of the glow and tried to change the color of the text in: Fonts, Colors, & System Fonts & System Metrics > WindowText:Color but this also change text color in Window Explorer main window ...
Is there other way to change this without affecting WinExplorer main window?
Thanks

I manage to push the arrow in MoreProgramsTab to the right by manipulating the image and would like to shift the All Programs text and the Logoff Button to the right.
Tried to change the ContentMargin no effect on both. Changing the Logoff area ContentMargin only makes the button thicker instead of shifting to right.
Anyone can help please ... thanks.

Reinstall Win7 as it seems there are no solution for the crashed browsers when uploading file. The line is now gone and Ka-la is right; need to lock the menubar before hiding it (I didn't even realize there is a menubar, I thought MS is throwing away almost anything).
Thanks for all the help and response ...

Sorry not able to attach an image. It only just recently that both IE & GoogleChrome crashed everytime I tried to attach a file. Reboot didn't help..
Thanks

OK ... the one in win explorer take effect immediately but on control panel will only take effect after reboot. Sorry about that guys and ... thanks again ...
Dave, I'm not an expert on this, so assume inserting a transparent pixel is by adding canvas width on left side of the existing image ... I'll keep playing on this ...

I'm trying to get rid of the background of Navigation Button in win explorer (the one that look like horizontal 8). I changed the image in explorerframe.dll (image 280 & 281) with transparent image but they don't have any effect.
I noticed in APPOWS theme the themer only change image 280.
Anyone know how to do this? Thanks ...

Help / Windows Vista / Need help with window frame

Hi all,
I'm newbee and just started today with WSB. I'm ok with the style of win7 in general and only bothered with windows frame.
How can I get rid of the glowing white around the title text and change the text to white?
Second thing is will it be possible to have the frame color in one color only?
Thanks for any help ..
