On the Creators Update versions of DMG(yours and mine) Winrar is fine so the issue is only on the Anniversary Update version

Help / Windows 10 / Re: black selected values in Registry Editor since Win10-TH2

It works for me I just remembered I don't use any solid black fill colors,I use 0,0,1 instead of 0,0,0 I have used this for a long time, even in Windows 7 themes because 0,0,0 caused some conflicts on certain things. maybe that will help. In this theme it should be working, that's what the screenshot is from http://gsw953onda.deviantart.com/art/Obsidian-for-Windows-10-Creators-Update-683352816

I realize this thread is old but this is still relevant in RS2 If you have a textcolor at Lists,Menus &Tabs>Listview>Listitem>Selected Remove it Then the select text color in regedit(and many other programs, like Winrar and 7zip) will be themeable from Fonts & System Metrics>highlighttext

According to gsw953: 1) You can theme the th2 msstyles in WSB as always 2) You must edit the Basic parts like Windows & Caption Buttons > Basic etc because you will be making a Basic theme 3) Rename your msstyles aerolite.msstyles 4) Replace the aerolite.msstyles in your aero folder with your aerolite.msstyles (keep a copy of the original) 5) Make sure your visual styles path in your .theme file is changed to [VisualStyles] Path=%SystemRoot%\resources\themes\Aero\AeroLite.msstyles 6) Use the th2 shellstyle.dll You can use CU88's method to apply it. I haven't tried this. Many say it works and some say it doesn't. You will be patching the th2 theme files with the patched ones from th1 You can't use your th1 (Build 10240) msstyle in th2 If I'm wrong on any of this will you guys please correct me. Congrats to all of you My method is kind of obsolete,I figured it out a couple of days before cu88 posted his patch. The only advantage to using my method is that you can still use uxstyle as your theme patcher

I just tried putting my themes for Windows November Update that I'm creating into the regular places and they are working now after modifying the original aerolite.msstyles! Now the themes are working fine (not the old RTM ones) but the new ones. So all you have to do is replace the normal aerolite.msstyles with my modified version and any further installed ones should work fine! Still bummed out that I have to redo all my themes but at least it's a start. *Update after logging out and back in it doesn't seem to be working! doh! Jamie check your theme patcher,I can log out and restart and gray10 stays loaded

I am now able to load Gray10 from the Personalize window like normal. I had to convert the .theme file to be a basic theme but it seems to be working and using my msstyle.I did have to add [Control Panel\Colors] to the theme file to get some things to change, but it is a start at least Edit upon further testing i discovered the msstyle needs to be named aerolite and put in the aero theme folder,so this probably isn't a good solution

if you are using a shellstyle the supports OldNewExplorer, you could edit uifile 23 in the shell32_uifiles and redirect it to get the icon to the imageres.dll instead of the shell32.dll. Then just add the 16799 and 16800 icons to the imageres.dll.res file of a 7tsp icon pack I know the white dot in the above image sucks,I just quickly made the blue dot 16799 icon white to see if this method would work

Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Problem with Start Menu item (I don't know what it is called)
|
on: August 03, 2014, 02:53:15 am

Ok I just realized I was using my own custom(and separate) StartIsBack skin. So for that it is in Explorer like I said above, same as the Desktop Classic menu for Windows 7 However if you have StartIsBack set to"Default Start Menu style then that menu becomes StartMenu>Menus>Basic>Toolbar for the background and StartMenu>Menus>Basic>Toolbar>Button for hover Like 3am said above. Or maybe it is something different in your version of StartIsBack,it seems odd that it changes depending on which skin StartIsBack is using
Maybe upload your msstyle and we can look

gsw953:
You can already do the textcolor states in ItemsView in default 8 and 8.1 Aero using:
Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Items View > ItemsView > Details > Selected Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Items View > ItemsView > Details > Selected Property
So you don't need to do it in ExplorerFrame UIFILE 40960 any more
But you still have to add the textcolor states for Toolbars, Headers, & Rebar > Toolbars & Headers > Items View Header (ItemsView::Header) and Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Items View > ListView > GroupHeader (UIGroupHeader) in UIFILE 40960. And the CPLCommandModule states in the shellstyle.
bongo:
Yeah. UIFILES 23 and 24 in Windows 7 shell32.dll
I knew you could do Selected but I could never get a Hot text color work so I did most of the MouseFocused in the 40960 file to see what would happen. Altough I forgot about Toolbars, Headers, & Rebar > Toolbars & Headers > Items View Header (ItemsView::Header) so I will add that too. Thanks

Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Change Background color of Ribbon

It's my Chameleon theme http://gsw953onda.deviantart.com/art/Chameleon-for-8-v1-352577762All the backgrounds are black. It then uses Black Glass Enhanced to let you change the color of Explorer windows from the Personalize panel. Black Glass Enhanced is a program for w7 that is used to give Explorer transparency. It will make any black fillcolor transparent when it is running. So before in w7 when it was running you would see the Details>Reflection>Main image but since we don't have that in w8 you get whatever the frame color is adjusted to.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but I had to go to work this morning. Ok I see what you mean now,I had the same thing in a "save as" window When you did the reg hack did you just do it for Segoe UI?
I seamed to have fixed it on mine by also adding MS Shell Dlg= and MS Shell Dlg2= to it

I tried the reg hack and it worked for me here on 64 bit Pro. Not sure if that helps, but it might help narrow it down. Could it be a font in your theme that didn't get ported properly

Help / Windows 7 / A couple of questions about shellstyle.dll
|
on: November 20, 2011, 03:42:57 pm
|
Hi I have a couple of about shellstyle.dll, base and wsb. First I think I half understand it,for example "Shellstyle:GenericLayout, 13, 0, 3602" would be edited in WSB by going to the 13 property of shellstyle:genericlayout? What do the last 2 numbers represent(the 0 and the 3602)? So in theory if I say, wanted the Reading pane and Homegroup windows to always have the same matching gradients I could just edit the bp_pane to get it's background from the same place as the ReadingPane: background="themeable(Gradient(gtc(ReadingPane, 1, 0, 3810), gtc(ReadingPane, 1, 0, 3811), gtc(ReadingPane, 1, 0, 3812), 4), window)" ? One other question,In the shellstyle gradients are ARGB colors and in WSB they are RGB's.Is the a way to control the A part(transparency) in WSB?

The windows icon in the bottom left is located in the Temporary Internet Files folder. I used to include new icons when I made custom wmploc.dll's Here's the instructions I used to include on how to change the icon:
"How to change Media Guide icons It's a liitle bit difficult to do but looks cool when done!
Run Registry Editor (RegEdit).
Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Services\MediaGuide
Double click on CachedIconPath
Copy the Value data to note pad(or a sticky note)
Do the same for CachedLargeLogoPath
Now you should have 2 addresses that look something like this:
C:\Users\Toshiba\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\NY852L75\media_guide_16x16[2].png
C:\Users\Toshiba\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\M9606MDA\mg4_wmp12_30x30_2[1].png
In Explorer navigate to these folders and simply copy and paste in the provided icon Example I would go to:"C:\Users\Toshiba\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\NY852L75" and paste in the new gray "media_guide_16x16.png
This is not permanent. If you clean your Temporaryy Internet files this will put the icons back to orginal."

white text is done by editing 2 of the JS text files in the 256 folder. just replace these with the originals The search box in the main window can be changed by first adding TEXTCOLOR:COLOR property to Styles>EditStyle>BackroundWithBorder then the Edit box will show up in the Search box.Still looking for the white background behind it.It will be whatever Buttons,Boxes,&Controls>Boxes>Edit>Basic is set to.
edit: the search icon and arrow on the rightside of the searchbox have a clear background. They are near the bottom of the 257 folder, just add color to them

Help / Windows 7 / Re: blinking cursor color
|
on: March 28, 2011, 03:38:58 pm
|
ok,I see. I guess that's my issue,128 gray inverted is still 128 grey, it must be the exact center of the white to black range! So my options would be,either choose a lighter gray for the window color and have it show as a slightly darker gray or vise versa?

Help / Windows 7 / blinking cursor color
|
on: March 28, 2011, 02:30:06 pm
|
Is there a way to change the blinking cursor color(caret)? In the tutorial it shows the it being the same color as the windowtext color.(red on a light blue background) This seems to be true except when using gray as the window color(rbg 128,128,128) I see the caret is listed in left tree but is a property that needs to be added. If this can be added what properties would be needed?
