Help / Windows 7 / Visual Style effect Excel colors?
|
on: April 26, 2010, 06:43:19 am
|
I am using AppowsWork Theme and my wife told me when using excel it changes the default Font color (in the colors selector box) from black to grey 75,75,75..
Anyone know where this setting is or is there a way to make Excel specific settings? She doesn't want it to use this color by default..but black as it should.
I searched for 75,75,75 color in Style builder but unfortunately that color is used 100's of times.

Help / Windows 7 / Change space between Time and Date in SysTray?
|
on: April 19, 2010, 08:07:52 am

I've searched but only found one similar post that had wrong info in it.
In the default Aero the time and Date are very close together..in this VS I am editing they are very far apart..but I can't find spacing for them.
Thanks in advance.

Help / Windows 7 / Re: Taskbar Size with normal icons (Large)
|

reduce both contentmargins to x,x,0,0 then it must go smaller, i've testet it
the Taskbar & System Tray > TaskBand > Basic > TaskBand > BackgroundBottom says how much space is between taskbar and buttons the Taskbar & System Tray > TaskBand > Basic > TaskBand > TaskItemButton says how much space is between icon inside the button and buttonframe..
when both values are 0,0 it must be at minimal space possible..
This was the right answer, which helped me determine that something else was wrong because it wouldn't go larger than my start button. Not sure how but I messed up something somewhere else (maybe in default Aero?) that was causing this. I couldn't find the problem so I reinstalled Windows and the problem is solved. Now with this reinstalled and the above help I should be able to get what I want! In theory Thanks all for help. Just wish I knew what I did before so it doesn't happen again. The way I knew there was a problem was because I checked my friends Win7 install and hsi taskbar with Aero the icons were always centered on the taskbar and when you switch to small cions they stay centered and the start button was then larger than the taskbar. On Min the icons were always at the top of the taskbar and the taskbar was nver larger than the startr button..so I messed osmething up somewhere..wish I knew what though.

I got the task buttons moving all around but no matter what the taskbar doesnt get smaller than 46px..is this due to the start button? Do you have to use that hack whre it allows a smaller taskbar than the startbutton?

it's an interaction between the Y-Axis Contentmargins in
Taskbar & System Tray > TaskBand > Basic > TaskBand > BackgroundBottom
Taskbar & System Tray > TaskBand > Basic > TaskBand > TaskItemButton
which makes the Taskband and Buttons higher or lower..
Hrm..I tried messing with those, my problem is I dont understand the purpose of the values so Its like blind changing and guessing. The thing is I imported all those settinsg from my other theme and while all the images and everything worked the taskbar was still bigger..so there must be something else in the VS that is causing this..because I imported the same values for all of taskbar & system try into the other VS from my working VS I WAS able to make the itembuttons larger so they fit the whole taskbar..but I cant seem to make them smaller and then make the taskbar also smaller ...Grrr

Im not using small icons taskbarthough..so changing that doesn't do anything.
Changing the other did but I still can't getthe effect I want.
If you look at the Theme ClearSharp youwill notice a smaller (40px) taskbar and the icons are perfectly centered vertically...then if you Try APPOWS2010 you'll see the Taskbar is about 46px and the icons are aligned on the top..no matter what I change I can't seem to get it right.

FYI I changed those values but only the Task buttons are getting smaller..the actual taskbar is staying the same It seems like ClearSharp VS has some mods that make the Taskbar smaller and they remove the space thats below the tasks icons/buttons in the taskbar.. I can't figure out how to remove these to make other VS looks like ClearSharp..Its got me really lost

That's what I thought but I cant understand hwo it works..also it isn't workign correctly.. I think the theme (Clear Sharp)had some other stylehacks in there thatmake the taskbar smaller and also allows the startbutton to expand over the taskbar.. How do the values work? What else effects it..? ButI cant figure it out no matter what.. Got the taskbar PERFECT with that theme..however I can't reproduce it with any other theme/style..

Help / Windows 7 / Taskbar Size with normal icons (Large)

I was modifying a theme and got it all as I wanted in my taskbar..then I decided to use another theme as my base..but it had a large taskbar or apperance of so and I can't figure out to change it.
It looks like one theme had a 40px size and the other looks like there is padding around it so its 46px.
I searched but I cant find anything about large icon taskbars..

Help / Windows 7 / Re: Default Colors / Brightness / Transparency?

So confused..Panda your answers are always confusing..
It doesn't appear there is any way to set the Transparenty checkbox to OFF and set the Brightness all the way left and the intensity all the way left..by default...in the VS.
What about editing the actual Theme file..? Is that possible? Will have to try when I get home maybe thats where those colors are being stored.

Right, you can't use your own colors...only disable them..sucks.
I've disabled mine as well due to the lack of control..I liked the effects..but not the colors with my black theme. Shame because it was a nice feature in Windows7.
3am thanks for the tip, too bad I had to disable all animations though, but its better than the ugly flashes.

Same issue here..it's so ugly ..it looks cool with the right themes..but when you want a dark or solid taskbar..it sucks.. shame you can't remove it or something...
Still messing with ways to at least make it look decent.. ah well. Only thing I know is to change the icons colors to get at least a deent looking color but that doesn't help much..
Edit: Didn't realize this post was so old..sorry for necroing it..though am curious if anyone has any pointers or new ideas around this?

Thank you..that's semi working but I guess I don't understand the values here to change them properly. I can get the color to change but I can't turn off Transparency and ...however I decided to keep transparency in my theme. But Still wish to know this for future.
Thanks for the reply..any more help would be great!

I never tried the exporting/importing method..I think the first time I did, it wasn't working correctly.
Clicking Edit then saving thechanges seems to work. Oh and no you don't have to keep all those temp files..you can delete them once you click done making changes..it imports them into the program I believe. I could be wrong on this but I think this is correct because it assigns a new temp file every time you click edit (even same image)

Seems like you didn't finish your question?
The way I edit mine is I make a copy of the theme file and folder that I am using as my base, then I load it in style builder and find the image I want to edit, click Edit and it will open in Photoshop, then you save it with the same name it has (.tmp name) and click Done making changes...then Test and/or Save

Help / Windows 7 / Default Colors / Brightness / Transparency?
|
on: April 14, 2010, 05:25:56 pm

I want to set the default Transparency (as OFF), the Color Intensity and the Color Brightness (all the options in the color controls when you click on Personalize in windows)
I have looked and look and looked but I can't find them. So while I am custom skinning everytime I reload my theme it resets that back to defaults and I can't find their locations..
