1  Help / Windows Vista / Text Colors in Computer Window on: January 08, 2009, 02:02:12 am
I am unsure how to change the color of some text. Here is a picture:

How can I change the color of each of the texts in the red rectangles ("Local Disk (C:)", "259 GB free of of 298 GB", and "Devices with Removable Storage")?

Thanks,
Joe
2  Help / Windows Vista / Three Highlighting Questions and an Explorer Question on: November 07, 2008, 06:42:20 pm
I am attempting to create my own visual style as I hate the light blue garbage Vista uses, mainly because it's very hard for me to see that light blue. I have some questions:

1. How do I change the color of the text in Explorer when a file/folder is highlighted. For example, if the particular folder is called "The Beach", how do I change the color of the text "The Beach" and the text "File Folder" underneath the folder?

2. How do I change the color of regular text highlighting, that is used for highlighting text in a text document and in a web page? It's the highlighting that occurs when you rename a file/folder and the name of the file/folder is highlighted in a light blue. It's also seen in the address bar when (when there is regular text, not the breadcrumbs).

3. How do I change the text color during question number 2?

4. How can I edit the bar in Vista's file explorer that has "Organize", "Views", "Burn", ect on it?

If the above is not clear, please let me know and I will explain more.

I appreciate any help,
Joe

I am a person who has never skinned anything before using your program (I like it by the way). One thing I think it can use, though, is the ability to "tell" the user what options in the pertain to each of the parts of Vista's GUI. I was thinking of some kind of interactive picture. When the user clicks on a certain part of the picture, like a task bar button or something, the user would be informed of what options pertain to and how they each affect that part.

I am aware that there is a guide coming out soon, so maybe the guide will have the same effect as my idea.

Thanks Panda X  :D ! That helped a lot. I have two last questions (hopefully):

1. How do you change the text color in the explorer file browser when the item is highlighted, "hot" (I assume that means hovered over), ect?

2. Also, how do you change the highlight color and the text color when highlighted for programs like Firefox, Word 2007, ect?

Thanks again,
Joe

Thanks, Panda X. Your post helped me a lot. I'm still having a little bit of trouble, though.

For number one, how do you get rid of the rectangles in the task bar, so that there is only text like in the example in my first post?

For number two, could you provide some more details about what exactly I need to change?

I've never skinned anything before, so this is all new to me. I really do appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Joe

I am attempting to modify Vista's default visual style. I can't figure out how to do a couple things. Maybe someone more talented than me can help me out. Here are the things I would like to accomplish:

1. Make the task bar look like this: http://http://media.longhornfusion.net/GlowEffects.swf

2. Change Vista's light blue highlighting (such as in the start menu, explorer, menus) to different, more viewable color

Thank-you,
Joe
