Andreas, free updates is always a huge incentive to buy a program, but I appreciate that unless new customers continue to buy, it get's harder to keep churning out new versions.
You could consider opening donations? I know that may seem odd for a commercial project, and I also know people generally do not donate online, but, I for one would happily send along a donation to support continued development.

I've been testing IE9, together with the Flash 64bit beta also out last week. I like it, more so than FF, for the moment though I don't feel the urge to switch from Iron (i.e. Chromium).

Help / Windows 7 / Re: Cant save my themes

My experience is that it works just fine under Win 7. But you have to implement the fix mentioned here about the FirstImageId first. After that any themes worked on previously should be resaved.

Help / Windows 7 / Re: Text Glow in Jump List Menu?

I've seen that too. Sometimes the image gets rendered opaque, other times not. I'd actually guess it's a Win7 thing and not the fault of VistaStyleBuilder but don't know.
Personally I just tried to pick a graphic which works in both forms, most of the time you get the transparent rendering anyway.

Help / Windows 7 / Shutdown Button Text Glow

Another text glow/shadow question. I've tried adding the necessary properties in a number of places, in particular where the text colour itself is set but no joy.

Help / Windows 7 / A similar problem to that mentioned in 'VSB 1.3 & Vista'
|
on: July 10, 2009, 04:04:03 am
|
In Win 7 (RC x64) I'm experiencing the same problem that occured after version 1.3 as described in thread ' VSB 1.3 & Vista'. The suggested fix there worked perfectly for Vista but now for Windows 7 it causes VSB to crash when testing a theme and will not save themes either. To summarise the problem without the workaround applied- only after boot up Windows will not log in. VSB works perfectly and using AveStyler or manually switching the theme works fine in Vista or Win7, but after a reboot you cannot get past the login screen. The only fix I could find was to boot in safe mode and use regedit to manually switch the theme back to Aero. Again, that's the problem experienced since 1.3, but only now on Win7 is the workaround suggested crashing VSB.

Help / Windows 7 / Taskbar 'Task' Menu fonts

Not even fully sure what this element is called but hopefully someone will be know how to adjust the font colours. One thing I do know is that adding the text shadow as per Taskbar Shadowed Text also adds a shadow to this list, but no font colour changes take effect.

I wonder if something similar can be done with the text in the places bar. As you can see with the pic the left arrow/triangle on the Control Panel link has black glow rendered after some tweaking, can it be turned on for the Text labels too does anyone know?

Help / Windows Vista / Re: Tool Window

Probably was more than one solution to this but simplest seemed to be streching the image by 2 pixels and so making that black center pixel 3 wide. Then using sizing margins: '3, 3, 3, 3' and a content margin value of '8, 0, 0, 0' seemed to achieve what you were after. Possibly 9 as the content margin looks better, that bits up to you.

It's all to do with the first context margin value in the properties for the top graphic. That value states where the innerborder starts within the image. Tweaking that value should allow you to correct that gradient issue... ...I hope, do let us know if it works

Help / Windows Vista / Re: Image importing greyer than it should be?
|
on: June 14, 2009, 10:11:01 pm

Well that makes sense, certainly things look better when the fix is applied, but in my example screenshots above the bottom left shot shows an image with the fix not being applied, or at least not taking affect even if it's imported into the same element as the bottom right image where the fix is applied to other PNGs.

Help / Windows Vista / Image importing greyer than it should be?
|
on: June 13, 2009, 12:57:19 am

Not sure how to describe this. Trying to work on a Win7 style here. If you download the this archive, http://7z.vc/VSBWin7.7z there are three files; 3 PNGs and a GIMP XCF. This problem is occurring on v 1.4 Two of the PNGs are very similar, in fact the left column on both is identical as I copied and pasted it trying to track down the problem. When when these two images are imported in to replace the Start menu Programs and Programs extend panels one of them imports significiantly grayer than the other. Trying to load both in else where, I randomly tried as a window frame, both import at the proper hue. I also tried switch the order in the start menu panels, i.e. I loaded the expanded graphic as the nonexpanded panel and vice-versa and again the same image appeared grayer. So the second test would suggest the problem is tied to the image file, yet that the problem doesn't manifest when tried at another random location is baffling. The included problem.png explains better than my words. The image in the bottom right screenshot is clearly greyer than the top right though both imported images are identical.

Help / Windows 7 / Shadowless frames
|
on: June 09, 2009, 11:45:43 pm

Quick question, anyone know where can I find an example of Shadowless frames in the Win7 UI? I'm very hesitant to make any changes without being able to find it in use somewhere to do a proper test.
