Help / Windows Vista / Unable to apply styles.
|
on: April 07, 2009, 01:11:42 pm
|
So far I have experienced no problems with my styles but after not using VSB for a few days, I have noticed that I unable to use them as my main vista style. I haven't changed any files or anything. Ever since creating styles, I have been using VistaGlazz to patch the theme files and wondering if this is conflicting with the built in patch in VSB. If not, I don't know why they won't work. Any help please?

Help / Windows Vista / Re: Unresolved explorer bar problem

well after trying your suggestions, i find that the problem still remains even with an aero style. I think the best bet would be to try and locate the area in the shellstyle and modify it from there and making a backup of the original.

Help / Windows Vista / User Account Control popup windows
|
on: March 30, 2009, 05:28:54 pm
|
Is there any way to change the colours in the UAC popup windows. Unable to provide a pic but when a program is started and permission is needed to access it, the popup window appears saying "AN unidentified program wants to access your computer". I'm hoping to get rid of that horrible orange background from where the above quote is displayed and also the grey area from a similar popup window stating "A program needs your permission to continue". I've been able to change the window borders but not sure if these areas are accessible in VSB or through the shellstyle or similar. Any help?

Now resolved. I just replaced it with my colours. Thanks PandaX

i tried restarting and found explorer in C:\Users\(MyName)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\Windows Explorer.exe which is where i'm guessing the original is located.
Just realised that original is in c:\windows and got it working now. thanks

ok thanks. After viewing another post in regards to changing the log off buttons, I opened explorer.exe in reshack and managed to change the buttons but it doesn't seem to make any difference to the start menu. Is there something extra i need to do in order to get them working?

Help / Windows Vista / Re: Active/Inactive frame

Another thing I have just noticed, after changing a random object and testing it, that greeny/blue bar has come back. I've just saved the style with the background still as greeny/blue, applied it and it's disappeared again. I'm seriously confused now!!!

I just don't understand why there is active/inactive options for bottom and top but not for left and right. I was hoping to have the inactive borders as opaque which works fine for top and bottom.

Oh exactly. I should have worded it better. It will be one at a time. I'm not adventurous enough to do all at once

I did notice those and was very impressed. What i've decided to do (even if it is long winded) is export all the images available from a .msstyle, categorise them appropriately, import them to either Photoshop or Expression Design, create my own designs within each border size and then import them to the .msstyle. Just hope it works that way

Help / Windows Vista / Scrollbar Trouble
|
on: March 08, 2009, 08:46:57 pm
|
I am in the middle of creating scrollbars and have noticed after testing them i have an annoying black rectangle directly behind them and is noticed around the edges of my created scrollbars and also it shows when the cursor is hovering over the track. Is there anyway to remove it as can't find it in the tree.
Thanks

Hi, thanks for responding. I am just creating themes for myself at the moment until I am used to it. As I built my PC from scratch, I thought that designing my own themes would add an extra little touch to it. I have been going through some of them and trying to edit and test which is working ok but i do find that I edited Normal and Hot under Start> Panels> Basic> MoreProgramsTab>, but when i try to edit Focused, it cancels out the work I have done in Normal and Hot.
Another question, what would you the say is the best program to edit images as currently I have Fireworks as only got a Trial of Photoshop CS4?
Regards

Help / Windows Vista / Newbie Help!!!

I am new to VSB and finding it a little difficult. I have been reading all the topics in this forum and have some ideas on what I am supposed to be doing but i don't think my brain wants to know. I have spent some time creating images in photoshop and getting to grips with the .msstyles but still no closer to getting anywhere with them. I would like to be able to create my own styles but really don't know where to start. Are there any help files or guidance notes in order to help a newbie like me or should I just give up and stick to just downloading pre-made styles. I did notice that there was a tutorial file on how-to-geek but it's been removed. Thanks in advance for any comments
