Help / Windows 10 / Re: Some Colors in Explorer
|

The thin line between menu and command bar and its strange behaviour is also visible in the original theme of Windows 10. It even changes its appearance when changing between a normal folder and a 'picture folder'. As the line is very, very thin in the theme of Windows 10 it's hard to recognize the difference. In case of a 'normal folder' its properties are defined within Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Menu Bar . In case of a 'picture folder' or 'music folder' the properties can be found in Toolbars, Headers, & Rebar > Rebar > Rebar . But I haven't been able to figure out what actually controls this line. Well, not so important ;-)

Help / Windows 10 / Re: Sub-Menus of Command Bar in Explorer
|
on: February 12, 2022, 07:39:28 pm

You are right: The classic visual style supplied in Windows 7 already shows this strange behaviour. And even the sub-menu of "Include in library" in the original theme of Windows 10 still shows a different appearance compared to the other sub-menus. Topic can be closed.

Help / Windows 10 / Re: Tooltip

on: February 24, 2021, 09:55:55 pm

Hello 3am, sorry for the late reply. If you don't believe me just change all the TreeItem textcolors to different colors and then test and see for yourself what happens. It hasn't got anything to do to believe you or not - just the opposite is true, I appreciate your advices and efforts, which have been a big help. But unfortunately real life takes all my attention now and the next few weeks, so I have stalled the further development of my visual style. Hopefully I'll be back in April.

Help / Windows 10 / Re: Tooltip
|
on: February 14, 2021, 12:05:53 am
|
Red is Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Tooltip > Standard White text is Explorer & Shell > Explorer > TreeView > TreeItem > Hot
The one item which is working (first entry of 'Windows Classic') the normal color is black, changing to white when the mouse pointer is located at the item. But the text color does not change from black to white when the tooltip appears, the text color remains black. That's why I believe there must be another entry controlling this. Furthermore I didn't define nowhere a yellow text color. The entries at Explorer & Shell > Explorer > TreeView > TreeItem > just control the behaviour in case there is sufficient space.

Textcolors are Explorer & Shell > Explorer > TreeView > TreeItem > Hot, Selected, HotSelected etc
This is working, but I am not sure if we are talking about the same: First half of the video everything is fine in the tree view, second half of the video shows the problem I am talking about (animated gif, ca. 8 MB)

Help / Windows 10 / Tooltip
|
on: February 13, 2021, 02:24:47 am
|
I replaced the background image for the tooltip in Explorer & Shell --> Explorer --> Tooltip --> Standard / Balloon and additionally for 1903 and 1909 also in Windows 10 Dark Mode --> Explorer & Shell --> Explorer --> Explorer Tooltip --> Standard / Balloon In the 17.. and 18.. builds the new background (yellow) appears, but text just if the item is hot and focussed. In the 19.. builds the old background (white) is still shown, despite of the entry in Windows 10 Dark Mode. How can I fix this?

Help / Windows 10 / Sub-Menus of Command Bar in Explorer

For sure not the most important thing, but why does the sub-menu of " Include in library" in the Command Bar appear 'flat', whereas the sub-menus of ' Organize' and ' Share with' have got a 3D-look?

Help / Windows 10 / Colors of Windows Task Manager
|
on: February 05, 2021, 11:58:48 pm
|
Is it possible to change colors of the classic old Windows Task Manager offered by winaero.com or at least the colors of the new Task Manager? I tried Fonts, Color&System Metrics > Fonts&System Metrics > WINDOW:COLOR , page 20 in Complete Guide to Theme Building, but nowadays this color influences a lot of another windows... It's a mess.

Help / Windows 10 / Original Word-document of 'Complete Guide to Theme Building.pdf' ?
|
on: February 05, 2021, 11:30:06 pm
|
According to document properties a user called "Wizzah" created the 'Complete Guide to Theme Building.pdf'
Highly unlikely, but is there anyone out there who owns the original document ? I would like to add the settings for Windows 10, explained here by 3am. But creating a pdf from a pdf doesn't seem to be a good idea to me (?), that's why I prefer the original.

Help / Windows 10 / Re: Color of upper corner in Explorer
|
on: February 05, 2021, 11:23:05 pm
|
Windows & Caption Buttons > Aero > DWM Window > Frames > Window > Top > Inactive I believe it is the 'Top' entry, but also seems to be some "interaction" with left and right frame. Quite complicated, I will postpone that. By the way: Is there any chance to avoid that Windows 10 assigns the 'accent color' to the title bar, overwriting the entry of the visual style?

Help / Windows 10 / Re: Colors in Open / Save As...-dialog box
|
on: February 05, 2021, 11:15:12 pm

The color of the right bottom corner is the same as the one for the background on the right side, in the "Complete Guide to Theme Building.pdf" on page 1, point 3: Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Items View > Items View > FillColor (main window) I don't believe that it is possible to change both colors independently from each other. But strange thing: Windows 10 with Aero and Windows 7 with Classic Theme show both corners with different colors, whereas Windows XP has got the same color (grey) for both corners :-) (the company I am working for still uses some old computers with original XP and 7)

Help / Windows 10 / Color of upper corner in Explorer
|
on: February 04, 2021, 01:57:48 am

The color of the corners isn't the right one, when the focus from the current window is removed. But I imagine this can't be changed, because it depends on the way Win10 displays the borders?

(The bottom line MIGHT have something to do with your Explorer & Shell > Explorer > PreviewPane > Details Background > Horizontal image) Yes, that's it, see the green line above the pink area.

Windows 10 Dark Mode > Explorer & Shell > Shell > PreviewPaneControl > CommonItemsDialog:Edit > Background (I don't know why this is listed as being in Dark Mode but it is....) Thank you, it works! Buttons, Boxes, & Controls > Scroll Bars & Trackers > ScrollBar > FillColor This doesn't change the corner at the right, but the one on the tree side. And strangely enough it also changes the color of the 'size corner' Well, I will let it as it is - white.

Help / Windows 10 / How does StartIsBack interact with Windows?
|
on: February 02, 2021, 11:18:28 pm
|
Could someone please explain me how StartIsBack works together with VisualStyles? Well, not a detailed explanation, probably I wouldn't understand all technical details ;-) But: Windows does not know about StartIsBack, so Windows just ignores entries ('classes') belonging to StartIsBack? Windows 10 seems to be quite sensitive regarding visual styles, e.g. sometimes using an old visual style with a new version of Win 10 locks the whole user account. So why don't the additional classes of SiB lead to a malfunction? (well, not a real question, I am just surprised )

Help / Windows 10 / Colors in Open / Save As...-dialog box
|
on: February 02, 2021, 11:06:37 pm
|
Does anyone know which entry corresponds to the marked region in the " "-dialogue? Instead of light gray, it should be grey like the other regions of the dialogue. I tried Fonts, Color&System Metrics > Fonts & System Metrics > BtnFace:Color as described in " Complete Guide to Theme Building.pdf", but no color changed neither in the "Open"-Dialogue nor in the "Save as"-Dialogue. This problem just occurs with Build 1909 (1903?) and just in the Save-As-dialog box, at least in 1709 everything is one unique color. Haven't tested it with other builds. I am NOT using Dark Theme. Little problem: What about the white rectangle between the horizontal and vertical scroll bar? Is it possible to change its color?

Help / Windows 10 / Replacing and Numbering of Images
|
on: January 28, 2021, 01:43:05 am
|
How do I replace an image correctly? Is it sufficient just to import the new image using the "Import" button or should I delete the IMAGEFILE property (cyan blue rectangle in the attached image) and when creating a new IMAGEFILE property import the new image? Does the numbering of the images follow a certain scheme or are they assigned arbitrarily? Why does the imagefile shown in the inherited properties link to a different image? Does this make sense? If it really is a second image, how can I find where it is defined? Is it possible that at two completely different locations within the visual style the same image nr. appears? Does this number in each case refer to the same image, in a manner that when replacing the image at one place it is 'automatically' replaced at other places which refer to the same image nr.?

Help / Windows 10 / Re: How do i check if a theme is for AU, TH2 or Redstone1/2?
|
on: January 28, 2021, 01:23:47 am

Well, you could have posted your solution...
Selecting the "Info"-Button in WSB just opens an Info Dialogue saying something like "Windows 8.1 Theme 331 classes, 2945 parts, 10346 states. 8507 properties in total."
So how does one verify which windows 10 version a visual style is created for?

Help / Windows 10 / Visual Styles in Win10 and Mr. GRiM
|
on: January 28, 2021, 01:15:00 am
|
Hello,
I downloaded working virtual styles for Windows 1709 and another one for Windows 1903 from deviantart and want to modify them.
Can I use Windows Style Builder V1.5.6.3 to edit directly these virtual styles? Or do I first have to apply the patches by Mr. GRiM? If I understood it correctly, these patches are just needed in case one would like to import and convert Win7/Win8-visual styles to Win10-styles?
