Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Inactive title bar colour on theme with white title bar text.

(which I have to do manually by putting the files in C/Windows/Resources/Themes because the built-in thing in WSB always gives an error)... Odds are, the style isn't being applied via the Personalization panel, either. Perhaps you wouldn't have noticed because the style is identical to the default in every other way or something. Make sure you have UxStyle or a UxTheme Patch or whatever you prefer installed and working. If you're using UxStyle, try going to Services.msc and restarting the "Unsigned Themes" service.

Help / Windows 10 / Re: What version for Win10 themes?
|

From my experience, the Windows 8.1 mode works, although the classmaps are kinda screwy by default. Mr. GRiM released some updated Windows 10 ones somewhere...I'd link to them if I knew where they were. As for the black Screen issue...from my experience, that's just some kind of Windows 8+ problem with the "Apply style after compiling" feature, testing should still work. I've always avoided it by just saying "no", and applying the style via a Theme, although that's on Windows 8.1, idk how you'd apply a style from a theme on 10. Presumably you know that much, though, given that you mentioned the style works "perfectly" on CU, seemingly implying you'd tried it yourself. Apologies if any of this is old news or otherwise incorrect, I've scarcely messed with Windows 10. I mainly deal with 8.1, and thought I'd left this thread to those more experienced with 10's ins and outs than I, but evidently they're oddly silent right now, so I guess it's my turn to (hopefully) do a helpful. Hope this helps

Those aren't in the MsStyles, they're in Chrome's files somewhere. You'll have to switch to an Aero-compliant Chrome theme (such as the default Chrome theme) in order to have the Chrome titlebar match your Visual Style :/

Help / Windows 10 / Re: Start Menu-All Programs

oh ok
I aked you because if you were using classic shell menu , I could have helped you to change font color there. (Was thinking the exact same thing) I don't use startisback so I can't tell ... IIRC StartIsBack uses information from the MsStyles, so Start Menu advice in the Win7 section should apply here...right?

Uhh...well I know I read something about WSB being unable to build Windows 8 Visual Styles on other versions of Windows, so...what if you replaced 14971's aero.msstyles with 14393's version? (Yeah, in case you can't tell, I'm desperate to come up with something here .-. )

Hm. What is the "Unsigned Themes Service" ? UXstyle service ? Yes UXtheme in 14971 can't be patched with UXstyle. I found another patch on visualcustom.net ._.
Oh...I, uh, misread the OP. Thought you said UxStyle, not UxTheme >.< Okay, uhhhh...save + load Style via Personalization CPL instead of testing proper? Idk... .-.

Uhh...I'd assume this is an obvious one (and thus that you'd already tried it), but have you tried restarting the Unsigned Themes Service before testing? .-.

Assuming those circles are glyphs, just modify the contentmargins properties for the buttons themselves.
(Also just an FYI: Those are called the caption buttons, in case you weren't aware of that :V )

Help / Windows 7 / Can the (<-) (->) Navigation Buttons be resized?

Title says it all. Apologies if this has already been covered, but try as I might I couldn't find anything. I just want to make those buttons smaller so they match the height of the address bar and form a unified " one bar" appearance, as well as decrease their width .-.

I apologize for this post not really being related to the subject, but...PlumyRabbit, how exactly were you able to restore the Windows Vista - 8 caption button sizes on Windows 10? Are those built into the titlebar background, or...is this some kind of weirdness akin to this thread?

Help / Windows 10 / Re: Paint.NET white background color

I'm no expert, but from my experience, it would appear that paint.NET uses its own colours, rather than Windows ones, meaning that either you'd need to Reverse Engineer it or compile a modified version from the source code :/

Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / OS explodes(?) when style is applied via WSB after saving [8.1u1]
|
on: April 09, 2016, 02:19:10 am
|
When using WSB beta 1.5.6.3, I've noticed a strange issue: After I save a Visual Style, there is an option to use the Visual Style immediately. Trouble is, I've noticed that if I select "Use Visual Style", my computer enters a black screen, forcing me to shut it down, enter recovery options, and do a system restore. The issue doesn't seem to be related to the Visual Style, since the styles I've saved work just fine if applied via a theme in the Personalization page in Control Panel, and the Test feature works fine (love that feature BTW). I'm on Windows 8.1 update 1, if any other information is needed, I'd be happy to try to locate and provide it.
I must say though, even with this bug, I still love Windows Style Builder. I just figured I'd report this bug, since it could be pretty dangerous to someone who wasn't prepared.
