Other / Other / Changing caption button width only?

Is it possible to decrease the width of minimize, maximize/restore, close buttons on the DVM and/or Basic Windows -- without decreasing height?
Thanks, Ellen

Right. Please see my edited response.
And again, if there is a way to get the delete key to work so that I can avoid having to log out and log in and repeat again, please let me know, someone.

I don't have any remove property button; that would have been the obvious choice. And hitting delete doesn't seem to do anything.
Edit: I figured out that it doesn't display correctly at 125% dpi, so I have to bring it down to 100% if I want to delete a property. Again, the delete button doesn't seem to do anything, but if anyone can explain how I might get that to work I'd appreciate it.

Is there a way to remove a property after you've added it? I would've thought it would be obvious, but I'm looking and looking and not finding a way.
Thanks, Ellen

Other / Other / Re: Increase font size in tree view?

OK, thanks, I see that now. But it is not quite right, at least at the size I wanted to be: the lines themselves are a little short and the letters get cut off a little at the bottom. Is there a way to adjust that without having to make the font smaller?

I did as you suggest and, while it increased the size of the font, it didn't increase the size of the space allotted to the font, so it gets cut off. As I can see it does in the example you attached. Any idea how to fix that?

Is there a way to hack WSB (older version 1.5.0.3) itself to increase the size of the font in the left side tree-view pane?
Thanks, Ellen

Other / Other / Re: Latest version WSB not working with themes from previous version

I spoke too soon. I'm really tearing my hair out here. Each version has its own problems, but they both sort of stop working after a while and need to be restarted, and sometimes I completely need to reboot.
The same theme displays somewhat differently in each different version. In the newer version, although I have edited certain items, they just do not display as edited. I think the newer version is a bit more stable and I'd like to continue using it, but it simply won't let me edit certain things. Or, what I mean is, I edit them, but they do not change when I test the theme. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?
Also, the new one does not remember where to save to or open from from one reboot to the next.
Thanks, Ellen
Edit: Fortunately, I am seeing that when I try the theme in Windows\Resources\Themes as a theme, all the edits do show, but it is utterly maddening to work this way.

Other / Other / Re: default Aero inactive title bar color

I tried adjusting that value, but it has no impact at all. Any other ideas? I tried to add a COLORIZATIONCOLOR value like the active window has but it won't let me.
Edit: I did figure out what to do: you have to modify MaxActive and MaxInactive as well, and then it works.
Thanks!

What I want is not to assign a particular color but to change the default behavior so that the inactive is less grayed, whatever color one chooses, with or without transparency.

When using default Aero, or modified for that matter, the color for the inactive title bar is automatically chosen as the color of the active title bar with an overlay or addition of gray. Is there some way to change that to any degree?
Thanks, Ellen

Other / Other / Latest version WSB not working with themes from previous version
|
on: February 24, 2014, 06:58:57 pm

I've been playing around with WSB for about a week, and I have a few test msstyles files that I've been working with. I just updated from 15.0.3 to the latest stable version, and I'm finding that with the themes I've been working on the elements don't seem to correspond, i.e., when I open restore button glow, what shows in the preview is the help button glyph, etc. This is not the case with a brand-new theme, but I don't want to have to discard everything I've been working on.
In addition, I can't test the previous themes, either. Is there any help with this?
Thanks, Ellen
edit: Well, I've figured out that if I closed the status bar and that other bar that was open – forgot the name, and now can't figure out how to get it back – in other words, going back to the view that I was using in the previous version of WSB, somehow everything goes back to corresponding to the correct item an image. Which is very, very strange.
I'm finding it rather buggy, to say the least. Another strange thing the new version does is refuse to open a previous theme when I want to switch from one to another. I have to close down the program and reopen it in order to switch themes. Anyone else noticing these things?

Other / Other / Re: want to use MS Shell Dlg2 as font but not in menu
|
on: February 22, 2014, 05:02:15 pm

I'd like to be able to use that method but for some reason I do not seem to have a String > Neutral in any of the .msstyles. I have String > 7, 8, and 32. That's all. String > 32 contains only seven lines – 501 to 507 – that refer to fonts (Segoe). What are my options? Could I simply add the string resource Neutral, if someone would post it here?
Revision: I opened the file in Restorator (first time was in resource hacker) and found that there it was listed differently, as String > Neutral, but the same problem: only 7 lines dealing with fonts. So what do I do?

Other / Other / want to use MS Shell Dlg2 as font but not in menu
|
on: February 21, 2014, 11:43:37 pm

When editing font values in Styles, I would like to be able to put MS Shell Dlg2, so that by changing that one font in the registry I can change all the fonts that have that value. But the way things are set up, it doesn't allow you to type in the name of the font; you have to choose from a menu that opens up when you click on the value. Is there a way to override this? If it's not possible in StyleBuilder, is there something that can be edited through other means?
Thanks, Ellen

Other / Other / why 404 not found?
|
on: February 18, 2014, 05:06:45 pm

Hi,
I'm not sure if this posted the first time, so please forgive me if this is a duplicate.
Question: Why, when I open StyleBuilder, do I see this area at the bottom saying 404 Not Found? It takes up a lot of space and it's kind of a pain to have to keep sliding that border so I can use the whole window. Is there any way to make it go away permanently?
Thanks, Ellen
