1  Help / Windows Vista / Re: How to make the taskbar smaller? on: December 14, 2008, 05:40:14 pm
No Problem. You can alter the fle as many times as you want. You just have to make sure you remember to re-asign the altered NORMAL.res file to the one you have changed. Before re-appling the style.

FYI

The HEX value 0F can not be used!!! This height will force the minimized window tabs to partially overlap and not display correctly. 0F = 52px Height (note: this is the windows default height for "middle" position of the task bar.)

mik2b,
Let me know what size you would like and I will do this for you when I get a moment. Further information is noted below. Thanks.

Thanks to " UK.Intel " changing the height of the task bar is as easy as appling the available (stylehack) in VSB for a few of these sizes. But if you are looking for a specific size you will have to follow the tutorial I posted a link to earlier in this topic. ( http://http://thehobbylounge.com/forum/index.php?topic=2611.0   ) .

Hex values for these listings noted in the tutorial must be changed in the (NORMAL.res) resource file located in the Variant folder of the aero.msstyles theme. Specific HEX code values are as follows.

HEIGHT:

22px  (HEX Value = 00)   -MINIMUN SIZE-
24px  (HEX Value = 01)
26px  (HEX Value = 02)
28px  (HEX Value = 03)
30px  (HEX Value = 04)
32px  (HEX Value = 05)
34px  (HEX Value = 06)
36px  (HEX Value = 07)
38px  (HEX Value = 08)
40px  (HEX Value = 09)
42px  (HEX Value = 0A)
44px  (HEX Value = 0B)
46px  (HEX Value = 0C)
48px  (HEX Value = 0D)
50px  (HEX Value = 0E)   -MAXIMUM-

Mike try this... Regretably this is as small as I can get it. The Variant file will not except a value equalling anything less than 22 px in height. Enjoy.

9  Help / Windows Vista / Taskbar Help Needed!!!! on: December 10, 2008, 09:34:22 pm
First let me start by explaining what I am trying to do before I post the question.
I am trying to remove the task bar image entirely. I have managed to make both aero and basic horizontal task bar images completely transparent. This does not seem to solve the problem. Windows is still showing a background image (glass). I even removed the glass png from the streaming folder in restorator 2007. Still didn't fix the problem. HELP? :x
10  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Isolating & Replacing the userpicture frame? on: December 02, 2008, 06:01:58 pm
That got it. I did the following.

Using Restorator 2007 I opened the explorer.exe from the windows main folder.

Extracted the frame image from the PNG folder("Can't miss it, it's the only image in the folder.").

Modified the PNG by simply deleting all visable information, and saving a copy.

Once I had a copy that was a blank version of the original .png, I renamed it 7013 ( the original .png 's name).

Reopened Restorator 2007.

Opened the explorer.exe again and navigated to the the same folder i previously navigated to. Right click on the original .png image and select assign to , and pointed to the replacement image.

Done.

See results below. Thanks Again  :D

11  Help / Windows Vista / Isolating & Replacing the userpicture frame? on: December 02, 2008, 02:29:18 pm
Can anyone help me with this? I am trying to isolate and replace or remove the frame that surrounds the user picture on the start panel, yet retiain the user picture. The image example provided below was provided by Andreas' 3D User Pic App ( which currently does not support a 64 bit OS.) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all.
