Help / Windows 7 / Forcing a universal caption height.
|
on: April 15, 2013, 02:32:37 am

How? I saw it done in Amana 2, and I guess others also do it. Are there any negatives to doing this? I noticed the caption buttons went below the caption in the maximized frame, in Amana 2, but I want to make the caption taller, so maybe this wouldn't happen to me.
Windows 7 - latest beta.
Thank you.

Help / Windows 7 / E-Mail Address In .msstyles
|

I just noticed that my e-mail appears in my theme's .msstyles file... any idea why? I'm going to be releasing the theme I'm using, and I would like to hide my address...

I solved it by adjusting the preferences through Start > Search > SystemPropertiesPerformance.

Help / Windows 7 / Re: Window Shadows

I have it checked, and when I restart it is unchecked. I've been enabling it every time I turn my computer on - I've already added shadows to my theme and am using it. I was wondering if whether they were enabled or disabled was a part of the theme? I know that there are separate frames.
Thank you.

Are window shadow preferences associated with themes? I have to enable them every time I restart.
Thank you.

Other / Other / Re: graphic request: square shadows

I still don't quite understand how this works. If I wanted uniform shadows, would I simply resize the top, bottom, left, and right shadows to all be the same size?
Also... I've made a mock frame with shadows, but I have no idea how to translate this into WSB... Could someone explain this better? Are the shadow images stretched... How could I achieve uniformity? I imagine I would adjust the margins so it tiles a single pixel of width or length.
Thank you.

Main / Future Concepts and Ideas / Maps & WSB

I really appreciate all of the maps in the Maps section on the forum. However, I wish we could simply copy & paste the addresses listed in those threads.
For example:
I want to edit "x." The map tells me x is - Green is Fonts & System Metrics > WINDOW:COLOR.
I wish I could copy and paste "Fonts & System Metrics > WINDOW:COLOR" somewhere and jump right to the location in the tree. This would save me a lot of time, as I spend a lot of it navigating the tree.
Thank you.

Help / Windows 7 / Re: DWM Crash & Revert to Basic Every Time I Test .msstyles

I did that.
I tested the Aero theme itself, with no modifications, and got the same error.
I didn't get rid of the file that you mentioned, but I don't think it matters.
This is slightly off topic, but I was wondering, can I edit the image files of an .msstyles file without WSB? I know I can navigate to and extract them with Restorator, but is there also a way to edit them back into the theme without WSB? Or, what the easiest way to go about that is. I have no real sense of flow within WSB.

Help / Windows 7 / DWM Crash & Revert to Basic Every Time I Test .msstyles
|

Hello.
So I've given up on trying to sort this by myself.
I made a copy of the Aero theme and renamed it, etc. I opened that msstyles file, from the desktop, and tested it, without making any changes. Every time I do so, DWM crashes, and my VS goes basic. This has effectively kept me from theming.
I spent a lot of time trying to theme the DWM frame, going through every top instance, and theming/testing it, to see if I had themed the basic file. Nope. I figure that the DWM crash is keeping me from making any changes to the DWM with my theme.
Testing other themes is working.
I've been able to compile my own .msstyle from Aero, but I've always had the problem I describe above. I've never been able to theme the DWM frame.
I'm on W7 - build 1.5.0.0
