The Start Menu layout has changed dramatically to reduce clutter and make it easier to find the part you want. Code: Programs List Command Module: The Command Module parts have been named. Code: Explorer & Shell > Explorer > CommandModule > <1> RENAMED TO BackgroundShineLayer Header: Header Consistency added. Thanks K Johnson for reporting. Code: Toolbars, Headers and Rebar > Toolbars & Headers > Header > HeaderItem STATE CHANGED to the same as HeaderItemRight Title: Re: Windows Style Builder 1.6 XML Changes Post by: K-Johnson on February 04, 2010, 11:16:33 pm I played around in VSB for the first time in what feels like months. This update looks to be very helpful. Thanks for your continuing support Panda-X! :D

I figure it would probably work all right seeing as how most of us here are familiar with backing up files and replacing them (and how to restore it if something messes up).

The Question:- You're talking about 1.6 and I've just got 1.5. How do I know when an update is available? I agree with other previous posts though, would be handy to have the XML files as a "pre-empt" to the official release. Got to add, after the "ease" of doing XP (I skipped vista) 7 seems a bit complicated (different paths) to mod. This apps made my life so much easier! Explorer & Shell > Explorer > CommandModule > <1> RENAMED TO BackgroundShineLayer Explorer & Shell > Explorer > CommandModule > <2> RENAMED TO Background and some more changes to it. But, I installed WSB 1.5, replaced the folders per the instructions in the 1.6 XML download, opened the style "Base" included with the download, but then I went to Explorer & Shell > Explorer > CommandModule > and the <number> are still there, they haven't been replaced to BackgroundShineLayer, etc. Did I do something wrong? I think I followed the instructions step by step. I unzipped the files, I overwrote the Vista and Win 7 folders in C:\Program Files (x86)\AveApps\Windows Style Builder\Data, then I copied the Base folder to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\, but I also left it where I had unzipped it, since I didn't want to work directly on the C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\ folder. I opened WSB and then I opened the msstyle Base from the scratch folder I had unzipped it. Was there anything else I was supposed to do? Title: Re: Windows Style Builder 1.6 XML Changes Post by: Dave Senior on May 09, 2011, 07:41:42 pm Should be working :S
You could go to the win7 folder at - C:\Program Files (x86)\AveApps\Windows Style Builder\Data open it,open the classmap .xml in notepad, do a search for backgroundshinelayer, if it shows up you know your files have been replaced. If everything checks out,I don't know what the problem is. Panda probably has an answer. Title: Re: Windows Style Builder 1.6 XML Changes Post by: Panda X on May 09, 2011, 10:26:36 pm Open up \Data\Win7\ClassMap.xml and tell me what the Version is.
Title: Re: Windows Style Builder 1.6 XML Changes Post by: sebaz on May 10, 2011, 05:53:30 am Should be working :S open it,open the classmap .xml in notepad, do a search for backgroundshinelayer, if it shows up you know your files have been replaced. OK, I realized what the problem is. When I did this the first couple of times, I had not simply copied the two folders to the data folder, I had deleted the Vista and Win7 folder to make things cleaner, since I had compared the folders and they both had the same files in them. But upon launching WSB, for some reason WSB would delete the new versions and force the old versions back into place. So then I tried to simply copy the two folders and overwrite, and now WSB is working with the 1.6 XMLs. I don't know why this happens, but it's fine now. And once you delete those files they aren't added back, WSB just runs without them. You don't even need the files to run it. Also you could've just overwrote. It's not going to be messier and all it does is replace the ones already there. (http://www.cubeupload.com/files/c06c00startmenu.png) The Start Menu layout has changed dramatically to reduce clutter and make it easier to find the part you want. Code: Programs List Command Module: The Command Module parts have been named. Code: Explorer & Shell > Explorer > CommandModule > <1> RENAMED TO BackgroundShineLayer Header: Header Consistency added. Thanks K Johnson for reporting. Code: Toolbars, Headers and Rebar > Toolbars & Headers > Header > HeaderItem STATE CHANGED to the same as HeaderItemRight Title: Re: Windows Style Builder 1.6 XML Changes Post by: Skrell on August 20, 2015, 05:58:32 pm I'm not sure what this topic means? Should I be using these xml settings in the latest beta? Or are they already present?

Title: Re: Windows Style Builder 1.6 XML Changes Post by: JebDude on August 15, 2017, 10:40:27 am I have everything backed up so I can revert to original if necessary. I still have the last v1.5.6.3 Beta from a few years ago. Apologies, finally see what's goin on. Is it me or are the 1.6 xml files already in v1.5.3.6 Beta? The time stamps of this thread and the 1.5.6.3 Beta thread seem to indicate such. Any new development news? Any links to read up on for what may be halting development? I know Microsoft probably didn't take into consideration any changes that would potentially break this project. On a positive note, my WSB v1.5.6.3 Beta is still working in Windows 10 Build 1607. Edit: I'm a doof. Title: Re: Windows Style Builder 1.6 XML Changes Post by: tistou77 on October 23, 2017, 03:33:30 pm Hello
I use the last beta with the files "default" Is there new file (xml)? Thanks Title: Re: Windows Style Builder 1.6 XML Changes Post by: 3am on October 23, 2017, 04:16:16 pm Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\AveApps\Windows Style Builder\Data\Win8.1
and replace the Win8.1 folder with the attached one made by MrGrim which contains customized xml files for WSB. Title: Re: Windows Style Builder 1.6 XML Changes Post by: tistou77 on October 24, 2017, 03:28:27 pm Thanks so much 3am, I'll test ;)
