Title: WSB and W11 24h2
Post by: tistou77 on August 25, 2024, 03:31:57 pm
Hello

With W11 24h2 (and sometimes with 23h2), every time I want to test a theme, I have the famous error message of the msstyles file which is not good
no problem, to modify it and save it

How to fix this problem ?

Thanks

PS: I use the latest WSB beta

I open and close the Show Controls window before testing. You only have to do this once per session.

This is what I always do, but there, without success  :'(

Sometimes it's necessary to repatch your theme files

If that also doesn't work then I don't know what is wrong.

I succeeded but under Windows 11 23h2, under 24h2 it is impossible
I modified the aero.msstyles file of Windows 11 24h2 (but without testing it therefore)

But the theme does not work, I have this error message

(https://i.ibb.co/m5gX5Yq/Capture.png) (https://imgbb.com/)

Even just by opening the aero.msstyles in WSB, doing nothing, and saving, I have this error message

WSB is not compatible with the new version 26100.1301 of aero.msstyles (MS updated it recently by modifying some things in the theme)?
No problem with version 26100.1 of the .msstyles file

Thanks

I'm not running 24H2 so I can't help you.

Even if I were I wouldn't know what to say.

Try contacting Ave. Maybe he can help.

It's also possible your theme files patcher hasn't been updated to include your new build yet.

The version of the theme files are the same (themeui and uxinit)

Put the 26100.1301 Aero folder in a zip file and attach it here.

I'll try to test it in 23H2.

Your zip file seems to be empty:

I need the msstyles. Preferably the entire folder.

The new msstyles won't test with WSB in 23H2 either.

Attached is a text file with the differences between the new msstyles and the one in 23H2. There's a lot of changes.

I still think it has something to do with theme file patches not updated to include this new build.

But I don't know for sure. Sorry.

Thanks so much for your help
I sent an email to Ave, I'll see if he answers me

The themeui.dll and uxinit.dll files are patched (my theme from aero.msstyles 26100.1 works fine)
But would a "different" patch be needed for the new version 26100.1301 ?

I don't know how you do for the differences, but here is the aero.msstyles 26100.1, there must be differences too

Patchers are always being updated.

Attached is the differences text file. There were only a few changes.

I get the differences text using DiffTool.exe that comes with WSB. Click the first msstyle you want checked and then the second and you get the resulting text file.

Ok thanks for the soft ;)
I checked, UltraUXThemePatcher is up to date (no new versions)

Waiting for a response from Ave, if he answers

I tried quickly with MsstyleEditor and it works
The problem comes from WSB

And no response to Ave's email

3am, could you tell me what these values correspond to (what it changes)
I saw that with the latest version, the corners are more rounded for the address bar and the search (explorer) for example

Code:
ItemsView.Details.Selected Property:TEXTCOLOR:COLOR

Media::Rebar <ITBarBase::Rebar>.Background.<default>:SIZINGMARGINS:MARGINS

DWMTouch.<4>.<default>:ATLASRECT:RECT

DWMTouch.<4>.<default>:ATLASRECT:RECT

DWMTouch.<5>.<default>:ATLASRECT:RECT

DWMTouch.<5>.<default>:ATLASRECT:RECT

Title: Re: WSB and W11 24h2
Post by: 3am on September 23, 2024, 10:44:25 pm

When the text is hot (hover and selected)
Red is Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Items View > ItemsView > Details > Selected > TEXTCOLOR
Green is Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Items View > ItemsView > Details > Selected Property > TEXTCOLOR

I don't remember ever seeing that particular ReBar anywhere. A ReBar is usually part of a background structure .

I think DMTouch had something to do with touchscreen graphics. ATLASRECT has to do with screen position.

Those rounded corners likely have nothing to do with the msstyles but are part of the system WINUI and XAML Island design languages.

Thanks so much ;)

For the slightly rounded corners, I had modified them in msstyles for the "progress bar" of the disks, I thought it was also possible for that

(https://i.ibb.co/QCprhLr/Capture.png) (https://imgbb.com/)

Having just the old msstyles (xaml, etc... up to date), and not the rounded corners, it is perhaps elsewhere

EDIT : I tested and it is indeed the theme (msstyles) that modifies it

New aero : (https://i.ibb.co/W38C77r/New.png) (https://imgbb.com/)   Old aero : (https://i.ibb.co/bPk3wrd/old.png) (https://imgbb.com/)

In your differences file, there is just what is listed in my post above, what "entry" could it be ?
Maybe rebar ?

Code:
ItemsView.Details.Selected Property:TEXTCOLOR:COLOR
file1 : argb(0, 109, 109, 109)
file2 : argb(0, 35, 35, 35)

Media::Rebar <ITBarBase::Rebar>.Background.<default>:SIZINGMARGINS:MARGINS
file1 : 1, 1, 18, 17
file2 : 1, 1, 1, 1

DWMTouch.<4>.<default>:ATLASRECT:RECT
file1 : 117, 60, 177, 120
file2 : 11, 46, 57, 92

DWMTouch.<4>.<default>:ATLASRECT:RECT
file1 : 117, 120, 197, 200
file2 : 11, 46, 57, 92

DWMTouch.<5>.<default>:ATLASRECT:RECT
file1 : 117, 200, 197, 280
file2 : 117, 0, 177, 60

DWMTouch.<5>.<default>:ATLASRECT:RECT
file1 : 11, 0, 57, 46
file2 : 117, 0, 177, 60

It's possible the differences text doesn't pick up image changes.

Any changes to the Address and Search box background images in the old Explorer would be at:

Address, Breadcrumb, & Search > Address > AddressBand > Basic > AddressBand > Background
Address, Breadcrumb, & Search > Search > SearchBox > Basic > Normal > Active > Background (and also Inactive)

I can't test because I am using the new Address Bar.

Post by: tistou77 on September 24, 2024, 03:49:21 pm
Ok thanks, I'll check if there are any differences between the 2

You use the latest version of aero.msstyle to have the new address bar ?

EDIT : Tested this (with the 23h2)

Address, Breadcrumb, & Search > Address > AddressBand > Basic > AddressBand > Background
Address, Breadcrumb, & Search > Search > SearchBox > Basic > Normal > Active > Background (and also Inactive)

And that's not it, it's the same thing

Other idea ?

Thanks for your help

The Address Bar was redesigned using WINUI and XAML instead of Msstyles over a year ago.

But why with the new aero.msstyle I have the new address bar and not with the old one then ?

Do you know where these files are ?

Title: Re: WSB and W11 24h2

It has nothing to do with msstyles. They must have made a change in the WINUI/XAML design.

I don't know the location of those files.

You could always use some app like Windhawk to restore it:

https://windhawk.net/mods/explorer-frame-classic

I don't use this. I don't know how well it works. I don't know how well it works with WSB.

Ok Thanks anyway, I don't know why just by changing the theme under Windows (and with the default one of Windows 11, the latest) I have rounded corners

New aero : (https://i.ibb.co/BnmM93P/New.png) (https://imgbb.com/)  Old aero : (https://i.ibb.co/0nTBXmT/Old.png) (https://imgbb.com/)

I would be surprised if it was something in the theme that "activates" the rounded corners (via a WINUI/XAML design)

In fact, it's not the theme but SAB that makes the rounded corners on these address bars and on the original theme (no link with Windows....)  :-[

So next question, how to modify the image and have the corners like with SAB on the aero.msstyles?
Being very bad at image editing

Thanks
